Week 3: Q1 Stats and Surprises

Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, would you look at that? The cannon has been fired in DKR Memorial Stadium, signaling that we're 1/4 of our way through the season. It's a nice time to look back at our draft, our teams, and league records, and see where things are headed. I want to get this out of the way at the top: if you're 0-3 after this week, don't give up hope . You only need to climb to 6th place (currently a 1-2 record) over the next 10 weeks to make playoffs, and anything can happen from there. The next segment of this blog post contains stats, and they are numbers Interesting Stats Through Week 3 Drew Brees has now thrown 40 footballs at Michael Thomas. He has turned that into 398 yards and 3 TDs, which is pretty good. The crazy part? He has caught 38 of those passes for an insane 95% catch rate After joining fellow Alabama alum Julio Jones in Atlanta, Calvin Ridley has more TDs in 2 games (4) than Julio caught for the entire...

Week 2 2018: QB Insanity

QB Insanity Alright, raise your hand if you saw this one coming: the top 4 QBs in our league do not include Brady, Wilson, Rodgers, or Cam. Instead it features the following superstars Mahomes Fitzmagic Rivers Cousins This leads me to two very important questions. Who's going to be starting Fitzpatrick this week? and more curiously, is Zane a wizard? Drafting Mahomes is one thing, but taking him in the 6th when he was being taken as the 15th QB is another level of sorcery. Another fun stat: Matt Brieda is the leading rusher for the NFL through 2 weeks. Seriously. MATCHUPS JuJu Smith-Schuster Dakstreet Boys (110.74) > Represent 👩🏈🌻(105.90) In one of the closest matchups of the week, dominant games from JuJu and McCaffrey gave Dakstreet his first win and vaulted his team into 6th. He even withstood a 0 point game from injured kicking star Greg the Leg. For Represent, that Cardinal's overall awfulness is really having an impact on David Johnson...

Week 1 2018: Browns "Break" The Losing Streak

For the first time since 2016, the Cleveland Browns played a football game without losing. Did they benefit from six turnovers? Yes. Did they have their game winning FG blocked? Technically yes. But hey, it's progress. Right? In Fantasy Football world, this weekend generated some insane scoring thanks in no small part to the  New Orleans/Tampa Bay shootout. Baltimore, the Jets (???), Rams, and Chiefs also put up huge offensive numbers that boosted many of our teams to landslide victories. *a note on the gifs: I just google search the players so the odds that they're actually footage from this week is incredibly unlikely Recaps Michael Thomas Cool Beans (142.64) > Eagle Powers (95.16) I don't know if I have ever seen a single game so completely dominate a matchup as the Saints loss to the Bucs this week. Kamara and Thomas combined for 75 points, while their nonexistent defense put up -4 points for Eagle Powers, dropping him into an almost 80 point hole he...

Kickoff 2018

It is Kickoff Day My Dudes Starting next Wednesday you'll be getting commissioner commentary on the weeks victories, defeats, and pickups. Before the season starts tonight though, I thought I would do something different and look back at our draft. Who's got the best RB core, who drafted the best WRs, who has the best team name? This should be a fun one to come back to in week 13 just to see how wrong I was. Lets get started Draft Grades Greg's Grand Team Coming off a championship game defeat, GGT went heavy on WRs this draft, picking up quality players at QB and TE as well. If Mixon can turn things around this season or Michel breaks out this is a very scary team. Team Name: D. It's an auto generated team name from an older era where yahoo was into alliteration. You can a slight bump for hanging on to it so long. QB: B WRs: A RBs: C TE: B zane's Team zane's Team placed 3rd last year despite missing Zeke for a significant ch...

And We Back

And we back, and we back, and we back, and we back It's season 3, it's 2018, it's Pradley Family Football Now that we've all spent a long offseason contemplating my amazing championship victory (which I completely forgot to write commentary about) it's time to get ready for our next season. We've got a few new faces in the league this year, as well as one returning from 2015, so this post will serve to introduce them to the rules, give updates on what we're (maybe) changing, and sort  out draft dates. If you don't read anything else in this post, skip to the part about draft dates. !!DRAFT!! (Read this part) The season is rapidly approaching, and begins on September 6th. That means we basically have 2.5 weeks to draft, but I'm unavailable for a decent part of it. Below are the 4 best dates to make this work (I think). Let me know which ones work or don't work for you. You can comment on this post, email, text me, or send smoke s...

Commish Commentary Week 14: Round 2, FIGHT!

Welcome to Round 2 of the playoffs! After 13 weeks of fantasy football it can be a weird thing to be on bye week, knowing that all your players are in games but they aren't actually scoring points for your team. Luckily everyone gets to play again in week 15, so hopefully you're all still paying attention. RECAPS Davante Adams 🤓🖒🏈 > Colton's Team Well, I can't say I saw this one coming. After writing basically an entire commentary about all the great players Colton had picked up to enable his winning streak, his luck ran out at the worst possible time as 🤓🖒🏈   kicked him out of the playoffs in the first round. A lot of  🤓🖒🏈 's recent success can be attributed to her bold decision to keep starting Philip Rivers over Terrific Tom, and it paid off again this week as Rivers more than doubled his score. 🤓🖒🏈  was also propelled by Davante Adam's 2 TDs as Cleveland proved once again that even when given the opportunity to win, they will...

Commish Commentary Week 13: Playoff Morning

We're finally here, Fantasy Playoffs. In 3 short weeks we'll have our first champion, and 9 other people thinking "if only I hadn't dropped that WR" or "If I had just played my starting lineup in..". But today there are only two matchups, as the 1 and 2 seeds are on bye, and the whole loser bracket has the week off. So with that in mind, I'm going to preview our playoff matchups (although I realize a few players played on Thursday) and then give you guys my top pickups of the season in all the skill positions. Colton's Team vs 🤓🖒🏈 What a crazy season for Colton's team. After starting the season 0-3, he has managed to win 4 of the last 5 weeks, jumping all the way into 3rd place for a first round matchup with his wife. He can thank a huge breakout season from Kamara and a late resurgence from Marvin Jones Jr. for making this comeback a reality. For 🤓🖒🏈 it's been a bit more of an up and down season, but she has also managed 3...
