Kickoff 2018

It is Kickoff Day My Dudes

Starting next Wednesday you'll be getting commissioner commentary on the weeks victories, defeats, and pickups. Before the season starts tonight though, I thought I would do something different and look back at our draft.

Who's got the best RB core, who drafted the best WRs, who has the best team name? This should be a fun one to come back to in week 13 just to see how wrong I was.

Lets get started

Draft Grades

Greg's Grand Team

Coming off a championship game defeat, GGT went heavy on WRs this draft, picking up quality players at QB and TE as well. If Mixon can turn things around this season or Michel breaks out this is a very scary team.
  • Team Name: D. It's an auto generated team name from an older era where yahoo was into alliteration. You can a slight bump for hanging on to it so long.
  • QB: B
  • WRs: A
  • RBs: C
  • TE: B

zane's Team

zane's Team placed 3rd last year despite missing Zeke for a significant chunk of time, and looks to push into the playoffs again with the strongest WR duo in the league. Early picks of Wilson and Ertz give him top 3 value in those positions as well. I think this team will go far.
  • Team Name: F+ zane's Team gets an even slighter bump for originality because yahoo for some reason didn't capitalize his name.
  • QB: A
  • WRs: A+
  • RBs: C
  • TE: A

Cool Beans

Colton finally gets a team name! What a glorious day for the league. Yahoo's auto draft had to take care of business last night, so I can't really comment on his strategy. The bench is a bit weak because it has extra TEs and QBs, but it's still a good squad.
  • Team Name: B
  • QB: B
  • RBs: B
  • WRs: B
  • TE: A+

Eagle Powers

Michael picked a team name I can spell this season, which is a huge upgrade even without the Nacho Libre reference. Eagle Powers has one of the strongest RB cores in the league and waited a long time to take Andrew Luck at QB. If he returns to his glory of olden days this team is crazy good. If not he could spend a lot of time picking Derek Carr likes up off waivers.
  • Team Name: A
  • QB: ???
  • RBs: A
  • WRs: B
  • TE: B

Wampus Cats

Last season's championship team has a cool new name and drafted a ton of running backs. Am I self absorbed enough to grade my own draft in this blog post? Yes. I am.
  • Team Name: A+++
  • QB: C
  • RBs: A
  • WRs: B
  • TE: C

Represent 👩🏈🌻

After being deserted by the 3 other female players in the league this season, Represent is sticking around to see if she can make her way into the playoffs this year. A lot of that may hinge on Wentz's health. Currently she has no QB to play in week 1, but assuming that gets worked out there's a good team here.
  • Team Name: A
  • QB: F (for now)
  • RBs: A
  • WRs: A
  • TE: C

Dakstreet Boys

In the biggest shock of drat night, Dakstreet boys named themselves after a star QB and then let that player go undrafted. Were his other picks enough to erase the shame? Probably, but he's going to have to hope for a big year from JuJu, Funchess, or Moore to round out his WR core.
  • Team Name: B
  • QB: A+
  • RBs: B
  • WRs: B
  • TE: C

Michael's Team

After skipping our 2017 season, Michael is back and hoping for vastly different results from last time. The story of Michael's team is in his young RBs. If Drake and Barkley live up to the hype this team is golden, but there's a lot of wait and see here.
  • Team Name: F. I like team names guys, you should pick something fun.
  • QB: C
  • RBs: B
  • WRs: B
  • TE: A+

Steven's Team

Steven's rude welcome to the league was finding out that LeVeon Bell is holding out for contract reasons only seconds after drafting him. Steven, if you haven't put in a waiver big for Connor yet I think you're crazy. This rest of the team is still looking good.
  • Team Name: F
  • QB: B
  • RBs: ?? this is so hard to evaluate right now
  • WRs: B
  • TE: C

Return of the Mack

Nick said he was going to try not to draft the entire Chicago Bears team. I don't think he tried very hard. He does have a cool name only 1 day into the league though, and I have to applaud that.
  • Team Name: B+
  • QB: C
  • RBs: A
  • WRs: B
  • TE: C

You've probably noticed by now that I didn't rate your Kickers or Defenses. That was not a mistake.
Happy Kickoff Everybody!

Kickoff 2019

Football Season is Upon us.. Man, that feels really nice to type. We're just weeks away from finding out Are the browns actually good now? Will the entire Cowboys offense hold out for better contracts? Can Antonio Brown recover from his frostbitten feet (seriously?) Who's going to dominate our draft only to watch their team fall apart in the final weeks of the season? There are two important parts to this post, and both of them require your participation; draft dates and rule changes. If nothing else, please send me your draft dates ASAP Draft Dates In order to avoid drafting players who get injured in the preseason, I've set the earliest date for this poll after Preseason Week 2. Check all the dates you're available, or at least X out the days you definitely can't make it. VOTE HERE Potential Rule Changes Alright, now for the rules. First, I want to note that we don't have to change anything from last year, but I always like ...

Week 13: Playoffs, Survivor Champion

A rare image of that one time the Jags were actually good Playoffs are here! The final week of the regular season included a bit of Chaos as Goofy Gang was able to claw his way into 6th place, while NB Power pushed into a 1st round bye. This next week, there are only 2 matchups because all of our losers bracket teams are on bye, as well as our league leaders. Survivor The winner of our very first survivor challenge has been crowned! Congrats Eagle Powers. The key to this game was consistency, and Eagle Powers has been consistently crushing it ever since this challenge started in week 5. With an average score of 139 and low of 113 during that period, this team has cruised to 4 eliminations (double that of the next best team) on the backs of Gurley, Luck, and Davante Adams, as well as insane waiver pickups in Conner, Chubb and Kerryon. How they're only 7-6 in the actual standings is the greater mystery. Survivor Standings : Eagle Powers: 132 Points this week ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ ...

Commish Commentary Week 9: Close Calls

Sometimes, Fantasy Football is about winning the draft, or getting that breakout player on waivers. Like drafting Hunt in the 7th or getting Wentz for free. Other times, it's about picking the right players to start and which ones to sit. Like when Amari Cooper puts up 40 points on your bench as you lose by 5. Sometimes though, it's just dumb luck. There were two teams this week that were ~1 point away from winning their matchup and moving into playoff position only to lose at the last possible second. 1 dropped pass that gets caught, one field-goal that goes in instead of bouncing off the upright. So close, but not quite close enough. Recaps! Travis Kelce Chunky Salsa (85) > 🤓🖒🏈 (83.24) In the first of our nail-biters, 🤓🖒🏈 took a lead Sunday with good games from Ajayi and McCaffrey, only for Chunky Salsa to be saved on Monday night by a Kelce touchdown. Salsa also got a pretty good game out of Tyrod and Hopkins, which helped gloss over an abysmal 8 carr...
