Week 3 2019: Everybody is a winner (almost)

You're all winners, kinda

In an odd turn of events after week 3, we have not 5 or even 6, but 7(!) teams with winning records. If the playoffs were to start today, someone (Take Mahomes..) would miss them despite being above .500

How does that happen? Simple: you just need the other teams to lose a lot. Wampus Cats and Sudowoodo Gang, both sitting at 0-3, have worked together to make such a feat possible. You're welcome guys.

Can this continue? Definitely not. Too many of our 2-1 teams play each other this week. But its kinda interesting to look at huh?

Power Rankings

I feel like there are clear D and A tier teams but the rest is kind of a mess.
  • A Tier
    • BurntOrangeMan: I had this team at the top last week and here they remain. This team has a good set of very consistent RBs and 2 WRs with the ability to put up league leading scores to take over games.
    • LilMoonee: Talk about jumping up the rankings. LilMoonee put up a league high 169 points this week on the backs of Ingram and Evans. Outside of Diggs (who is looking almost unplayable now) everyone on this squad is showing up. And while we can't expect 40 points from Evans every week, I think the concern that he could be a dud has passed.
  • B Tier
    • zcub : Can someone teach Chris Carson how to hold onto a football?? That small change would push this team into the top tier as he keeps getting benched for less talented backs. Thomas/Lockett/McLaurin are super safe WRs that are getting enough targets to produce every week.
    • BriasaurusRex: Frank Gore is truly the eternal man, and put up a solid week at a perfect time for this week as Damien Williams sits on the sidelines. Dalvin Cook could legitimately be the RB1 this year.
    • cfisher1991: Julio Jones is showing the world why he was worth $66M as he continues to put up huge weeks while other top WRs (JuJu, Hopkins, Adams) stumble. This team does have to have some level of worry about Todd Gurley ever returning to last years form.
  • C Tier :
    • Country Roads, Take Mahomes : From first place to 7th in one week, Take Mahomes moves 2 tiers down the list because of the impact injuries have had on her top players. JuJu saved his day with a 76 yard TD, but Mason Rudolph isn't Big Ben. Saquon being out several weeks will be a real challenge for this squad.
    • Lucky Charms: Austin Ekeler has been this team's savior through 3 weeks, but that appears to be coming to and end with Gordon's return. So who's going to step up to fill the void? Right now Adams, Conner and Freeman are all punching below their weight class.
    • Funky Monkeys : This team got its first win of the season thanks to a big performance from Waller and solid days from his RB pair. What this team needs now is for one of its many serviceable WR options to have some kind of breakout. Edelman, Boyd, Gordon, and Kirk are all playable any week but none of them are going to win you a matchup.
  • D Tier
    • Wampus Cats: This team came close to notching its first win but was let down by its WR duo (11 points combined). The bad news for the Wampus Cats is that his RBs can't be expected to repeat this weeks success consistently which makes this last game look like a blown opportunity.
    • SudowoodoGang : This team potentially got a big boost today as Melvin Gordon returned to the Chargers. We'll see how quickly he can be re-integrated and whether that allows Sudowoodo to make a push for the playoffs in a few weeks.
Pointy

Pickup of the Week

Terry McLaurin: zcub . This was a close one because I feel like Austin Hooper is also a very good pickup, but I see Terry's performance as more sustainable. He has worked his way into being the clear #1 WR for the Redskins and should see a ton of work as the year goes on.

Kickoff 2019

Football Season is Upon us.. Man, that feels really nice to type. We're just weeks away from finding out Are the browns actually good now? Will the entire Cowboys offense hold out for better contracts? Can Antonio Brown recover from his frostbitten feet (seriously?) Who's going to dominate our draft only to watch their team fall apart in the final weeks of the season? There are two important parts to this post, and both of them require your participation; draft dates and rule changes. If nothing else, please send me your draft dates ASAP Draft Dates In order to avoid drafting players who get injured in the preseason, I've set the earliest date for this poll after Preseason Week 2. Check all the dates you're available, or at least X out the days you definitely can't make it. VOTE HERE Potential Rule Changes Alright, now for the rules. First, I want to note that we don't have to change anything from last year, but I always like ...

Week 13: Playoffs, Survivor Champion

A rare image of that one time the Jags were actually good Playoffs are here! The final week of the regular season included a bit of Chaos as Goofy Gang was able to claw his way into 6th place, while NB Power pushed into a 1st round bye. This next week, there are only 2 matchups because all of our losers bracket teams are on bye, as well as our league leaders. Survivor The winner of our very first survivor challenge has been crowned! Congrats Eagle Powers. The key to this game was consistency, and Eagle Powers has been consistently crushing it ever since this challenge started in week 5. With an average score of 139 and low of 113 during that period, this team has cruised to 4 eliminations (double that of the next best team) on the backs of Gurley, Luck, and Davante Adams, as well as insane waiver pickups in Conner, Chubb and Kerryon. How they're only 7-6 in the actual standings is the greater mystery. Survivor Standings : Eagle Powers: 132 Points this week ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ ...

Commish Commentary Week 9: Close Calls

Sometimes, Fantasy Football is about winning the draft, or getting that breakout player on waivers. Like drafting Hunt in the 7th or getting Wentz for free. Other times, it's about picking the right players to start and which ones to sit. Like when Amari Cooper puts up 40 points on your bench as you lose by 5. Sometimes though, it's just dumb luck. There were two teams this week that were ~1 point away from winning their matchup and moving into playoff position only to lose at the last possible second. 1 dropped pass that gets caught, one field-goal that goes in instead of bouncing off the upright. So close, but not quite close enough. Recaps! Travis Kelce Chunky Salsa (85) > 🤓🖒🏈 (83.24) In the first of our nail-biters, 🤓🖒🏈 took a lead Sunday with good games from Ajayi and McCaffrey, only for Chunky Salsa to be saved on Monday night by a Kelce touchdown. Salsa also got a pretty good game out of Tyrod and Hopkins, which helped gloss over an abysmal 8 carr...
