You're all winners, kinda
In an odd turn of events after week 3, we have not 5 or even 6, but 7(!) teams with winning records. If the playoffs were to start today, someone (Take Mahomes..) would miss them despite being above .500
How does that happen? Simple: you just need the other teams to lose a lot. Wampus Cats and Sudowoodo Gang, both sitting at 0-3, have worked together to make such a feat possible. You're welcome guys.
Can this continue? Definitely not. Too many of our 2-1 teams play each other this week. But its kinda interesting to look at huh?
Power Rankings
I feel like there are clear D and A tier teams but the rest is kind of a mess.
- A Tier
- BurntOrangeMan: I had this team at the top last week and here they remain. This team has a good set of very consistent RBs and 2 WRs with the ability to put up league leading scores to take over games.
- LilMoonee: Talk about jumping up the rankings. LilMoonee put up a league high 169 points this week on the backs of Ingram and Evans. Outside of Diggs (who is looking almost unplayable now) everyone on this squad is showing up. And while we can't expect 40 points from Evans every week, I think the concern that he could be a dud has passed.
- B Tier
- zcub : Can someone teach Chris Carson how to hold onto a football?? That small change would push this team into the top tier as he keeps getting benched for less talented backs. Thomas/Lockett/McLaurin are super safe WRs that are getting enough targets to produce every week.
- BriasaurusRex: Frank Gore is truly the eternal man, and put up a solid week at a perfect time for this week as Damien Williams sits on the sidelines. Dalvin Cook could legitimately be the RB1 this year.
- cfisher1991: Julio Jones is showing the world why he was worth $66M as he continues to put up huge weeks while other top WRs (JuJu, Hopkins, Adams) stumble. This team does have to have some level of worry about Todd Gurley ever returning to last years form.
- C Tier :
- Country Roads, Take Mahomes : From first place to 7th in one week, Take Mahomes moves 2 tiers down the list because of the impact injuries have had on her top players. JuJu saved his day with a 76 yard TD, but Mason Rudolph isn't Big Ben. Saquon being out several weeks will be a real challenge for this squad.
- Lucky Charms: Austin Ekeler has been this team's savior through 3 weeks, but that appears to be coming to and end with Gordon's return. So who's going to step up to fill the void? Right now Adams, Conner and Freeman are all punching below their weight class.
- Funky Monkeys : This team got its first win of the season thanks to a big performance from Waller and solid days from his RB pair. What this team needs now is for one of its many serviceable WR options to have some kind of breakout. Edelman, Boyd, Gordon, and Kirk are all playable any week but none of them are going to win you a matchup.
- D Tier
- Wampus Cats: This team came close to notching its first win but was let down by its WR duo (11 points combined). The bad news for the Wampus Cats is that his RBs can't be expected to repeat this weeks success consistently which makes this last game look like a blown opportunity.
- SudowoodoGang : This team potentially got a big boost today as Melvin Gordon returned to the Chargers. We'll see how quickly he can be re-integrated and whether that allows Sudowoodo to make a push for the playoffs in a few weeks.
