Commish Commentary Week 4: Colton gets a win edition

With 4 weeks in the books, we're officially 1/4 of the way through the Fantasy season. What does that mean? As badly as your team may have done, or as much as you may be dominating the league, there is a lot of football left to be played, and many of the people on your rosters today will be sitting on waivers in the coming weeks. These middle weeks are often when breakout players are picked up that win championships, so don't be afraid to drop people that are underperforming just because you drafted them.

So uh, lets do some recaps.

Colton's Team(86.44) > travis's team (82.08)

Lets get things started with the most exciting matchup of the week. This game was decided by only 4 points, and swung from a clear travis victory to Colton's first win of the season through the final 2 games of the week. A huge 20 point game from the Seattle Defense brought Colton's chances back to life Sunday night before a measly 35 yards from T. Hill nailed the coffin shut on Monday. Colton got only 12 points from his 3 WRs, but balanced this with better games from Blount and Cook. On the other side of the matchup, TY Hilton and Jason Witten joined Hill in slacking off this week, leaving Travis a bit short of 2-2.

- Lowest scoring winner, Colton's Team

- Matchup of the week

Chunky Salsa(105.18) > His Beautiful Wife(99.68)

There are few things in life more important than Fantasy Football, but a happy wife is one of them. So instead of rubbing salt in this wound, I'll just say this was a fun, close game that fortunately tipped my way as Travis Kelce unveiled his new touchdown dance on Monday Night Football (look this up, people). Brittany is probably looking forward to benching Matt Ryan during his bye after the score he gave her this week, and I know she wasn't happy to have Abdullah on her bench, but her team is honestly very good, and in perfect position to make a deep playoff run.

- Highest scoring loser, 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ (Why does iOS have emoji's that OSX doesn't? Get it together Apple)

Perezoso Majestuoso(121.28) > 🤓🖒🏈(64.58)

In a much less exciting matchup, Perezoso's team crushed 🤓🖒🏈 by almost doubling her points in the high score of the week. In fact, he got so many points out of Fournette and Bell, he could have won without playing any WRs, FLEX, TE, or QB. Not too shabby. 🤓🖒🏈 was hamstrung by a negative score from the Cowboys D, a Justin Tucker who isn't living up to his kicking reputation, and a shockingly bad game from the perviously unstoppable Thompson. The bottom line though is that despite this huge differential, both teams are 2-2 and in similar boats going forward. Fantasy is weird like that sometimes.

- High score of the week, Perezoso

Greg's Grand Team(96.52) > Rodgers That 🏈💪 (82.96)

Another week, another win for GGT. In the 2nd of 3 husband v wife showdowns, this was a really close game until catastrophe hit Rodgers' team and Ty Montgomery broke his ribs. Rodgers got good-not-great performances out of everyone else, but it wasn't enough to stop the juggernaut that is apparently Todd Gurley. (fun fact- he's outscoring all QBs except Tom Brady on the year so far). The question of every week then, is can GGT keep getting away with this? Sadly, I think the answer is yes, as the #2 and #3 teams in the league have both already tried and failed to slow him down.

zane's Team (90.40) > last shall be 1st 😜 (77.94)

After week 1, I said "don't panic, it's only 1 game". After week 2 I said "there's still plenty of time to turn things around".. After week 3 I said "it's a bit worrying, but you can come back from this".. At 0-4, it might be time to panic a little for Last shall be First. In our final spouse showdown, Zane's team took care of business with amazing games from Russel Wilson and Zeke and mediocre games from everyone else. Last shall be first had good showing from Michael Tomas and Charles Clay, but a bad week from Roethlesburger made it too difficult to come back. Zane's team remains in 3rd with a shot to overtake Chunky Salsa or GGT should they fall this week..

- Pickup(s) of the week, Charles Clay and Demarco Murray - Last Shall be 1st. This was a tough week to choose, but I'm giving it to Last Shall be first for getting 2 players that should really help out all season long, even if Murray didn't have an amazing game this week.

Kickoff 2019

Football Season is Upon us.. Man, that feels really nice to type. We're just weeks away from finding out Are the browns actually good now? Will the entire Cowboys offense hold out for better contracts? Can Antonio Brown recover from his frostbitten feet (seriously?) Who's going to dominate our draft only to watch their team fall apart in the final weeks of the season? There are two important parts to this post, and both of them require your participation; draft dates and rule changes. If nothing else, please send me your draft dates ASAP Draft Dates In order to avoid drafting players who get injured in the preseason, I've set the earliest date for this poll after Preseason Week 2. Check all the dates you're available, or at least X out the days you definitely can't make it. VOTE HERE Potential Rule Changes Alright, now for the rules. First, I want to note that we don't have to change anything from last year, but I always like ...

Week 13: Playoffs, Survivor Champion

A rare image of that one time the Jags were actually good Playoffs are here! The final week of the regular season included a bit of Chaos as Goofy Gang was able to claw his way into 6th place, while NB Power pushed into a 1st round bye. This next week, there are only 2 matchups because all of our losers bracket teams are on bye, as well as our league leaders. Survivor The winner of our very first survivor challenge has been crowned! Congrats Eagle Powers. The key to this game was consistency, and Eagle Powers has been consistently crushing it ever since this challenge started in week 5. With an average score of 139 and low of 113 during that period, this team has cruised to 4 eliminations (double that of the next best team) on the backs of Gurley, Luck, and Davante Adams, as well as insane waiver pickups in Conner, Chubb and Kerryon. How they're only 7-6 in the actual standings is the greater mystery. Survivor Standings : Eagle Powers: 132 Points this week ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ ...

Commish Commentary Week 9: Close Calls

Sometimes, Fantasy Football is about winning the draft, or getting that breakout player on waivers. Like drafting Hunt in the 7th or getting Wentz for free. Other times, it's about picking the right players to start and which ones to sit. Like when Amari Cooper puts up 40 points on your bench as you lose by 5. Sometimes though, it's just dumb luck. There were two teams this week that were ~1 point away from winning their matchup and moving into playoff position only to lose at the last possible second. 1 dropped pass that gets caught, one field-goal that goes in instead of bouncing off the upright. So close, but not quite close enough. Recaps! Travis Kelce Chunky Salsa (85) > 🤓🖒🏈 (83.24) In the first of our nail-biters, 🤓🖒🏈 took a lead Sunday with good games from Ajayi and McCaffrey, only for Chunky Salsa to be saved on Monday night by a Kelce touchdown. Salsa also got a pretty good game out of Tyrod and Hopkins, which helped gloss over an abysmal 8 carr...
