Week 2 2019: The death of the quarterback

Sorry Browns.

This week unfortunately saw 2 hall of fame level QBs leave the game with significant injuries. Ben Roethlisberger (whose name I still have to spellcheck every time I type it after all these years) and Drew Brees (who I'm reminded 5-10 times each Saturday went to the same highschool as Sam Ehlinger) are both out for a long time.

For Big Ben it means the end of the season, maybe the end of his career. It looks like Brees will return this year but there are big questions for a lot of our 1st and 2nd round picks. Where will Kamara, Michael Thomas, Ju-Ju, and James Conner end up with their new QBs?

Considering how late I'm writing this, I guess we're about to find out.

Power Rankings

Do we know more than we did after week 1? Yes, definitely. I'm more confident than before that my team is bad. Do we know enough to establish a clear S tier team? Probably not yet.
  • A Tier
    • BurntOrangeMan: As long as Henry and Fournette keep outperforming their draft stock, this team is going to keep winning. There are so many good options here that Emmanuel Sanders isn't even starting.
    • cfisher1991: Julio/Hilton/Godwin is looking like the best WR stack in our league, and while this team lacks an amazing RB, it has a lot of depth at the position especially when Coleman comes back.
    • Country Roads, Take Mahomes : There are questions around Ju-Ju's ceiling now, but this team has to be in the top tier thanks to the performances Mahomes and Barkley are putting up. AJ Green getting closer to return implies a high top end potential for this team as the year progresses.
  • B Tier
    • zcub : Uncertainty around Thomas and Chubb are the only things keeping this team out of my top tier. Lamar Jackson is the real deal, and the Carson/Lockett pair should be strong all year.
    • BriasaurusRex: The temporary loss of Damien Williams is a blow to this team, but Dalvin Cook turning into the league's leading rusher gives it a lot of hope for the future.
  • C Tier
    • LilMoonee: Lots of questions around this team. McCaffrey has lost Cam (at least for now), Mixon is struggling on a weak Bengals team, and Evans seems to have lost the top WR position to Godwin. Watkins and Engram are both very good news for this team.
    • Funky Monkeys : AB leaving New England is good news for a team that's starting both Edleman and Gordon, and Waller is looking like a great TE grab. Oddly the question mark for this team is at QB where Rodgers hasn't been playing like his usual top 5 self.
    • Lucky Charms: This team got a big win thanks to the Pats defense, but will need to hope Conner and Michel can start performing like top RBs going forward. How long Ekeler can keep his dominance up is another big question that largely hinges on Gordon's willingness to play this year.
  • D Tier
    • Wampus Cats: The Antonio Brown saga might have finally come to an end, and Kamara has lost Drew Brees. On the plus side, Dak Prescott is a big pickup off waivers that could help turn things around.
    • SudowoodoGang : Injuries have been brutal for this team. First Tyreek, now Brees and Gallup. Sudowoodo needs some of his coin flip players (Gordon, Robinson) to turn up heads soon.

Pickup of the Week

Marquise "Hollywood" Brown: Luck Charms. Week 1 he did it all on just 4 catches, but week 2 saw him on the field and and getting targets much more consistently. Baltimore looks to be a much improved offense under Jackson, and Brown could be a big part of that.

Kickoff 2019

Football Season is Upon us.. Man, that feels really nice to type. We're just weeks away from finding out Are the browns actually good now? Will the entire Cowboys offense hold out for better contracts? Can Antonio Brown recover from his frostbitten feet (seriously?) Who's going to dominate our draft only to watch their team fall apart in the final weeks of the season? There are two important parts to this post, and both of them require your participation; draft dates and rule changes. If nothing else, please send me your draft dates ASAP Draft Dates In order to avoid drafting players who get injured in the preseason, I've set the earliest date for this poll after Preseason Week 2. Check all the dates you're available, or at least X out the days you definitely can't make it. VOTE HERE Potential Rule Changes Alright, now for the rules. First, I want to note that we don't have to change anything from last year, but I always like ...

Week 13: Playoffs, Survivor Champion

A rare image of that one time the Jags were actually good Playoffs are here! The final week of the regular season included a bit of Chaos as Goofy Gang was able to claw his way into 6th place, while NB Power pushed into a 1st round bye. This next week, there are only 2 matchups because all of our losers bracket teams are on bye, as well as our league leaders. Survivor The winner of our very first survivor challenge has been crowned! Congrats Eagle Powers. The key to this game was consistency, and Eagle Powers has been consistently crushing it ever since this challenge started in week 5. With an average score of 139 and low of 113 during that period, this team has cruised to 4 eliminations (double that of the next best team) on the backs of Gurley, Luck, and Davante Adams, as well as insane waiver pickups in Conner, Chubb and Kerryon. How they're only 7-6 in the actual standings is the greater mystery. Survivor Standings : Eagle Powers: 132 Points this week ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ ...

Commish Commentary Week 9: Close Calls

Sometimes, Fantasy Football is about winning the draft, or getting that breakout player on waivers. Like drafting Hunt in the 7th or getting Wentz for free. Other times, it's about picking the right players to start and which ones to sit. Like when Amari Cooper puts up 40 points on your bench as you lose by 5. Sometimes though, it's just dumb luck. There were two teams this week that were ~1 point away from winning their matchup and moving into playoff position only to lose at the last possible second. 1 dropped pass that gets caught, one field-goal that goes in instead of bouncing off the upright. So close, but not quite close enough. Recaps! Travis Kelce Chunky Salsa (85) > 🤓🖒🏈 (83.24) In the first of our nail-biters, 🤓🖒🏈 took a lead Sunday with good games from Ajayi and McCaffrey, only for Chunky Salsa to be saved on Monday night by a Kelce touchdown. Salsa also got a pretty good game out of Tyrod and Hopkins, which helped gloss over an abysmal 8 carr...
