Week 5 2018: And then there were 9

We can pretend that's a Wampus Cat, yeah?
It's night in the forest. Hours earlier, 10 fighters entered this remote location with no food, no equipment, and one goal: survive.

Cliques and alliances form quickly. Dak and Khalil Mack see themselves as the strongest in the group, both being in prime NFL game condition. They claim the closest fresh body of water (a small stream) and start making sticks into spears

Goofy, Snoopy, and the Wapmus Cat form an animal bond instantly and dash off into the forest. They're looking for the easiest target.

Andy Samberg and Jack Black are used to the star treatment and want nothing to do with the rest of the group. That leaves the three teams who forgot to choose representatives and came to the forest themselves. Zane, Greg, and Steven. They're being hunted.

Survivor Week 1

Over the hours that follow, our 3 average dudes make their way deeper into the forest. They're looking for shelter from the rain, something edible to sustain them, and some wood dry enough to catch fire. Snoopy, Goofy, and Wampus are looking for them. "Gawrsh, what are you folks doin' out here?" Goofy and Snoopy are now blocking the path forward, and Zane and Greg are trying to explain that they don't want any trouble. It's the first night, no one has to get hurt. Steven, apparently afraid of giant anthropomorphic dogs, is standing 10 feet behind them trying not to be seen. As it turns out, he's never seen again by anyone in the forest except one: The Wampus Cat.

*retroactive edit: system changed in week 6 because it was flawed. Now the highest scoring living team gets the kill*

Survivor Standings :

  • Eagle Powers: 149 Points this week ⚔️
  • Greg's Grand Team: 134 Points this week
  • Dakstreet Boys: 126 Points this week
  • Goofy Gang: 119 Points this week
  • Wampus Cats: 116 Points this week
  • zane's Team: 115 Points this week
  • Return of the Mack : 114 Points this week
  • Represent 👩🏈🌻: 113 Points this week
  • Cool Beans: 86 Points this week
  • Steven's Team: 64 Points this week 💀

Power Rankings

  • S Tier
    • Return of the Mack: Mack jumps Cool Beans in the rankings this week due to the pickup of Michel, and some underperformance from our previous points leader. Zeke/Michel/Howard is an insanely strong RB corps, and he gets Chicago's D off bye this week. Big Ben is also lighting up the scoreboard thanks to an atrocious Steelers defense.
  • A Tier
    • Cool Beans: The swap with Mack is primarily because there are questions marks around how productive Kamara can be with Ingram back. We need to see more data before we're comfortable saying he's still the top RB in the league. Otherwise this team is still amazing.
    • Wampus Cats : This team moved into first in the standings, but stays put in power rankings. A good performance from Ingram is a solid sign for the future, but his WRs are struggling as Hilton remains out and John Brown comes back to earth.
    • Eagle Powers: A huge week pushes this team up a tier. Luck is dominating in garbage time, and James Conner returns to form as an RB1 for the Steelers. That could end up being the pick up of the season.
  • B Tier
    • Goofy Gang: Brees broke the all time passing record and delivered this team a much needed win. Landry/ Diggs/ Kupp is a great WR lineup, and Gronk is back healthy.
    • Dakstreet Boys: The boys jump Represent to enter the B tier thanks to the Fournette injury making Yeldon an amazing Flex player. The AB/JuJu pair continues to dominate for the Steelers.
  • C Tier
    • Represent 👩🏈🌻: 2 weeks in a row with good scores that weren't quite enough make it hard for this team to make playoffs. There's still a lot of talent here though, as Theilen and Kittle continue to show huge value at their positions.
    • zane's Team: Not a lot of change here. Julio/Hopkins/Edleman is still great, Derick Henry is still an abysmal RB to have as your starter. Chris Carson losing carries to Mike Davis isn't helping either.
  • D Tier
    • Greg's Grand Team: Odell finally showed up this week and GGT scored his best week of the season, unfortunately that was still a loss. His RB position is effectively cursed, as Peterson (who he just traded for) left the game with a shoulder injury. Hopefully he can be ready to go for next week.
    • Steven's Team: Doug Baldwin and Devonta Freeman both returned from injury, but neither is providing any help for this team. There are few game winners on this team until Lev Bell comes back.

Pickup of the Week

There were a lot of "wait and see" picks this week, and we'll know more in the future. For now, I think Mike Davis (picked by Cool Beans) might be the best value. Greg Olson (Dakstree Boys) is also very interesting.

Kickoff 2019

Football Season is Upon us.. Man, that feels really nice to type. We're just weeks away from finding out Are the browns actually good now? Will the entire Cowboys offense hold out for better contracts? Can Antonio Brown recover from his frostbitten feet (seriously?) Who's going to dominate our draft only to watch their team fall apart in the final weeks of the season? There are two important parts to this post, and both of them require your participation; draft dates and rule changes. If nothing else, please send me your draft dates ASAP Draft Dates In order to avoid drafting players who get injured in the preseason, I've set the earliest date for this poll after Preseason Week 2. Check all the dates you're available, or at least X out the days you definitely can't make it. VOTE HERE Potential Rule Changes Alright, now for the rules. First, I want to note that we don't have to change anything from last year, but I always like ...

Week 13: Playoffs, Survivor Champion

A rare image of that one time the Jags were actually good Playoffs are here! The final week of the regular season included a bit of Chaos as Goofy Gang was able to claw his way into 6th place, while NB Power pushed into a 1st round bye. This next week, there are only 2 matchups because all of our losers bracket teams are on bye, as well as our league leaders. Survivor The winner of our very first survivor challenge has been crowned! Congrats Eagle Powers. The key to this game was consistency, and Eagle Powers has been consistently crushing it ever since this challenge started in week 5. With an average score of 139 and low of 113 during that period, this team has cruised to 4 eliminations (double that of the next best team) on the backs of Gurley, Luck, and Davante Adams, as well as insane waiver pickups in Conner, Chubb and Kerryon. How they're only 7-6 in the actual standings is the greater mystery. Survivor Standings : Eagle Powers: 132 Points this week ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ ...

Commish Commentary Week 9: Close Calls

Sometimes, Fantasy Football is about winning the draft, or getting that breakout player on waivers. Like drafting Hunt in the 7th or getting Wentz for free. Other times, it's about picking the right players to start and which ones to sit. Like when Amari Cooper puts up 40 points on your bench as you lose by 5. Sometimes though, it's just dumb luck. There were two teams this week that were ~1 point away from winning their matchup and moving into playoff position only to lose at the last possible second. 1 dropped pass that gets caught, one field-goal that goes in instead of bouncing off the upright. So close, but not quite close enough. Recaps! Travis Kelce Chunky Salsa (85) > 🤓🖒🏈 (83.24) In the first of our nail-biters, 🤓🖒🏈 took a lead Sunday with good games from Ajayi and McCaffrey, only for Chunky Salsa to be saved on Monday night by a Kelce touchdown. Salsa also got a pretty good game out of Tyrod and Hopkins, which helped gloss over an abysmal 8 carr...
