Commish Commentary Week 2: The super late one

A crazy real life week has lead me to writing this one the night before our week 3 sunday games, but here we are. For now, lets pretend that Todd Gurley didn't score 33 points against me on Thursday.

Quick notes:
- we got some more team names, and they even have emojis!
- 6/10 teams make playoffs in this league, so don't worry if you haven't won a game yet
- waiver priority order does not reset each week, so if you don't see players you want, you can hold onto your pick and then get guys once they're free agents.

R E C A P S:

Chunky Salsa (116.66) > Perezoso Majestuoso (88.58)
Starting with the marquee matchup of the week, the highest scoring teams of week 1 fought it out for first place. The KC Chiefs gave Chunky Salsa a huge edge when Kelce and Hunt combined for 40 points, and ultimately Amari Cooper and Desean Jackson followed the Perezoso way by lazily throwing together 7 points. Majestuoso made a great pickup this week in the Baltimore defense, who looks like a real contender for #1 DST, and got a good performance out of Davante adams as well. In the coming weeks, both teams will hope to get more out of their QBs. For now though, Chunky Salsa retains the crown.

- pickup of the week, Ravens DST (Perezoso Majestuoso)

🤓🖒🏈 (125.58) > Barbara's Bold Team (107.02)
I told you guys last week, team names matter. They give your players a feeling of inclusion and team camaraderie that drives them to put up fantasy points for you. This matchup is a perfect example as CJ Anderson, Crabtree, and Tom Brady all put up HUGE weeks for 🤓🖒🏈 following her emoji based name change. She also got Jay Ajayi back from his 1 game hurricane delay, resulting in the highest score of the week, and of the season so far! Barbara's team put up a great score again, lead by Ty Montgomery and Alshon Jeffrey, but she was unluky enough to face an even better opponent for the second week in a row. Her team now has the unfortunate honor of holding 3rd place in total scoring while being winless.

-Highest score of the week, and season 125.58 (🤓🖒🏈)

Greg's Grand Team (86.04) > Colton's Team (67.80)
Oof. Here we are, the low scoring noodle fight of the week. Despite weak performances from Cooks, Mason Crosby, and the Bradfordless Vikings, Greg's team cruised to victory over Colton's team, who had 9/9 players fail to meet projections. Sam Bradford's injury combined with a struggling Seattle Seahawks really slowed down Colton's team, but both of those factors have a good chance to change in the coming weeks. Greg's team may have lost David Johnson week one, but every win matters, and starting the season 2-0 gives him a good chance to stick around for Johnson's eventual return.

- Low score of the week, 67.80 (Colton's Team)

Zane's Team (96.62) > Brittany's team (89.38)
In a back and forth matchup this week, both team's TEs turned in great performances while both QBs failed to hit projections. Zane's team saw a huge projected lead slip away in the afternoon game as Zeke had his worst game ever, only for Brittany's team to fall short as Jordy Nelson was injured during the first drive of the game and failed to earn her a single point. In the end, Zane had a big enough boost from Gillislee and Martavis Bryant to fend off a 2 TD game from Freeman, putting both teams at 1-1. If Jordy can get healthy soon and Zeke starts playing up to his past performances, I don't think either team will have a hard time making the playoffs.

Travis' Team (93.62) > Stuck in last 😳🔪🏈 (77.32)
I said above that Barbara's team is unlucky to be 0-2 with her scoring, and now I think it's clear where that luck has gone to. Travis' Team currently sits in 3rd at 2-0 despite being the 8th highest scoring team through 2 weeks. In any case though, a win is a win, and it's a great start to the season. Big games from Hyde, Old Man Witten, and newly returned Mike Evans pushed Travis to victory this week. On the other side of the ball, Stuck in last was hit with more bad luck as Greg Olson broke his foot, sending him to injured reserve in a game where he only garnered 10 yards. Her first round pick Odell is still recovering but was able to play a few snaps this week, and should be good to go soon. On the bright side, she got a great game out of Derrick Henry on her bench; a player who could be taking over the starting job in Tennessee.
On to week 3!

Kickoff 2019

Football Season is Upon us.. Man, that feels really nice to type. We're just weeks away from finding out Are the browns actually good now? Will the entire Cowboys offense hold out for better contracts? Can Antonio Brown recover from his frostbitten feet (seriously?) Who's going to dominate our draft only to watch their team fall apart in the final weeks of the season? There are two important parts to this post, and both of them require your participation; draft dates and rule changes. If nothing else, please send me your draft dates ASAP Draft Dates In order to avoid drafting players who get injured in the preseason, I've set the earliest date for this poll after Preseason Week 2. Check all the dates you're available, or at least X out the days you definitely can't make it. VOTE HERE Potential Rule Changes Alright, now for the rules. First, I want to note that we don't have to change anything from last year, but I always like ...

Week 13: Playoffs, Survivor Champion

A rare image of that one time the Jags were actually good Playoffs are here! The final week of the regular season included a bit of Chaos as Goofy Gang was able to claw his way into 6th place, while NB Power pushed into a 1st round bye. This next week, there are only 2 matchups because all of our losers bracket teams are on bye, as well as our league leaders. Survivor The winner of our very first survivor challenge has been crowned! Congrats Eagle Powers. The key to this game was consistency, and Eagle Powers has been consistently crushing it ever since this challenge started in week 5. With an average score of 139 and low of 113 during that period, this team has cruised to 4 eliminations (double that of the next best team) on the backs of Gurley, Luck, and Davante Adams, as well as insane waiver pickups in Conner, Chubb and Kerryon. How they're only 7-6 in the actual standings is the greater mystery. Survivor Standings : Eagle Powers: 132 Points this week ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ ...

Commish Commentary Week 9: Close Calls

Sometimes, Fantasy Football is about winning the draft, or getting that breakout player on waivers. Like drafting Hunt in the 7th or getting Wentz for free. Other times, it's about picking the right players to start and which ones to sit. Like when Amari Cooper puts up 40 points on your bench as you lose by 5. Sometimes though, it's just dumb luck. There were two teams this week that were ~1 point away from winning their matchup and moving into playoff position only to lose at the last possible second. 1 dropped pass that gets caught, one field-goal that goes in instead of bouncing off the upright. So close, but not quite close enough. Recaps! Travis Kelce Chunky Salsa (85) > 🤓🖒🏈 (83.24) In the first of our nail-biters, 🤓🖒🏈 took a lead Sunday with good games from Ajayi and McCaffrey, only for Chunky Salsa to be saved on Monday night by a Kelce touchdown. Salsa also got a pretty good game out of Tyrod and Hopkins, which helped gloss over an abysmal 8 carr...
