Commish Commentary Week 3: Everything is Crazy

Um.. what? Seriously. What a ridiculous week 3 for the NFL. The Jets shut down Miami, Case Keenum tore the Bucs apart, Brisset put up a huge game, and the Ravens lost 44-7 in London.

In Fantasy football, things were a bit more normalized. A winless team picked up its first victory, and we're down to just one undefeated squad (hint: it isn't mine).

Tonight is the night for waivers and despite relatively few big names popping up this week, there was one very interesting drop in our league last week. That's all I'll say on that.

Anyway, on to the Recaps!

Greg's Grand Team (123.5) > Chunky Salsa(113.04)
There's a new league leader in town, and his boring name is Greg's Grand Team. Todd Gurley almost killed Chunky Salsa's chances before the week had even really started with a 34 point explosion on Thursday, but big games from a healthier Jordan Howard and Jordy Nelson put life back into this matchup. Unfortunately for Chunky, Tom Brady lit it up this weekend, and someone had to catch all those passes as Cooks finally showed his potential on his new team with a huge 30 point game. GGT now holds the only undefeated record in this league. We'll see how long he can keep it.

- High Score of the Week, GGT
- Highest Scoring Loser, Chunky Salsa

Rodgers That (80.52) > Perezoso Majestuoso(74.96)
Well, it wasn't pretty, but Rodgers That has her first win of the season. This name change business may be more important than we previously though. This week started off horribly for Majestuoso as his previous pickup of the week (Ravens DST) netted him negative points. Despite good games from his RBs, 6.6 combined points from his WRs were too little to bring him back into the game. Rodgers' namesake player put up a great game vs the Bengals, and Dez sealed the matchup last night by willing his way through 4 Cardinals defenders into the endzone. Both of these teams had abysmal TE scores, so they might want to look at who's available in that department.

- Pickup of the Week, Chris Carson, Perezoso. I know I was 1000% wrong last week, but this really does look like Perezoso picked up a starting RB for free.
- Lowest Scoring Winner, Rodgers That

Brittany's Team(96.56) > Colton's Team(91.60)
This one get's my matchup of the week stamp of approval. Both teams got huge games from their RB1s, tons of points from Kickers, and little elsewhere. In the end, Brittany's team took a 5 point lead into the Sunday night game where Pryor did almost nothing and Lynch attempted to do even less. Then in the 4th quarter, a Redskins fumble gave the Raiders a 1st and goal at the 4, providing Lynch his opportunity to sneak in a touchdown and win the game for Colton. 3 incomplete passes later, and Oakland kicked a field goal, sealing his fate. It's a disappointing loss for Colton's team, who put up the 5th most points on the week but now fall to 0-3 on the season.

Zane's Team(104.42) > Travis's Team(83.62)
In this matchup, Zane's team cruised pretty comfortable to victory on the backs of his star players. Antonio, Gronk, and Zeke all showed up to combine with Wilson's 34 points and make Zen's team one of 3 teams to break 100 points this week. Unfortunately for Travis's team, a surprisingly bad game for Witten and a mid game injury to Kelvin Benjamin really brought down his score. Even more painfully, TY Hilton put up 27 points on his bench, which would have been enough to swing this matchup the other way. Both of these teams now sit at 2-1 and are in good position to make the playoffs this season. Side note: Travis's team desperately needs a new name. Those double s's are driving me crazy.

🤓🖒🏈 (81.22) > Stuck in Last 😳🔪🏈 (78.30)
Stuck in Last, I'm sorry to say that you're in this weeks low scoring noodle fight yet again. This week's noodle showdown was decided by QB scoring, and Tom Brady torched the Houston defense, giving 🤓🖒🏈 a 24 point advantage over Stuck in Last's Roethlesburger. 🤓🖒🏈 paired this with good performances from AJ Green and McCaffrey to push her past good outings from Stuck In Lasts' WR pair. Somehow, there were only 13 points scored between both team's starting Kickers AND Defenses, which really pushed the point total down for this matchup. 🤓🖒🏈 moves up to 5th place at 2-1 after a bad opening week.

Week 4 is next and it's the beginning of the bye weeks. Plan accordingly!

Kickoff 2019

Football Season is Upon us.. Man, that feels really nice to type. We're just weeks away from finding out Are the browns actually good now? Will the entire Cowboys offense hold out for better contracts? Can Antonio Brown recover from his frostbitten feet (seriously?) Who's going to dominate our draft only to watch their team fall apart in the final weeks of the season? There are two important parts to this post, and both of them require your participation; draft dates and rule changes. If nothing else, please send me your draft dates ASAP Draft Dates In order to avoid drafting players who get injured in the preseason, I've set the earliest date for this poll after Preseason Week 2. Check all the dates you're available, or at least X out the days you definitely can't make it. VOTE HERE Potential Rule Changes Alright, now for the rules. First, I want to note that we don't have to change anything from last year, but I always like ...

Week 13: Playoffs, Survivor Champion

A rare image of that one time the Jags were actually good Playoffs are here! The final week of the regular season included a bit of Chaos as Goofy Gang was able to claw his way into 6th place, while NB Power pushed into a 1st round bye. This next week, there are only 2 matchups because all of our losers bracket teams are on bye, as well as our league leaders. Survivor The winner of our very first survivor challenge has been crowned! Congrats Eagle Powers. The key to this game was consistency, and Eagle Powers has been consistently crushing it ever since this challenge started in week 5. With an average score of 139 and low of 113 during that period, this team has cruised to 4 eliminations (double that of the next best team) on the backs of Gurley, Luck, and Davante Adams, as well as insane waiver pickups in Conner, Chubb and Kerryon. How they're only 7-6 in the actual standings is the greater mystery. Survivor Standings : Eagle Powers: 132 Points this week ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ ...

Commish Commentary Week 9: Close Calls

Sometimes, Fantasy Football is about winning the draft, or getting that breakout player on waivers. Like drafting Hunt in the 7th or getting Wentz for free. Other times, it's about picking the right players to start and which ones to sit. Like when Amari Cooper puts up 40 points on your bench as you lose by 5. Sometimes though, it's just dumb luck. There were two teams this week that were ~1 point away from winning their matchup and moving into playoff position only to lose at the last possible second. 1 dropped pass that gets caught, one field-goal that goes in instead of bouncing off the upright. So close, but not quite close enough. Recaps! Travis Kelce Chunky Salsa (85) > 🤓🖒🏈 (83.24) In the first of our nail-biters, 🤓🖒🏈 took a lead Sunday with good games from Ajayi and McCaffrey, only for Chunky Salsa to be saved on Monday night by a Kelce touchdown. Salsa also got a pretty good game out of Tyrod and Hopkins, which helped gloss over an abysmal 8 carr...
