Week 12 Commish Commentary: Elimination

First, I'm sorry this is first commentary you've gotten in 3 weeks. Last week we were traveling for Thanksgiving, but I have no idea what happened the week before. In any case, we've got two more regular commentaries left before I figure out what to do for the playoffs.

The theme this week was apparently blowout wins (and playoff elimination). The Chargers obliterated the Cowboys while the country ate Thanksgiving dinner, the Eagles almost shut out the Bears, and our 1st and 2nd place teams both crushed their opposition by more than 50 points. Lets hope for a more competitive week 13 huh?

RECAPS

Keenan Allen

Greg's Grand Team (111.54) > Chunk Salsa (54.66)

Lets just rip off the band-aid and get this one out of the way. I was one of the two teams to get buried this week, losing to GGT for the second time this season. Greg's team was lead by a second straight explosion game from Keenan Allen, and great weeks for Branin Cooks and Gurley. Hopkins was apparently the only player who was even awake for the games this week on Chunky Salsa's team as he got a pitiful 12 points from his 3 starting RBs. With this win, GGT guaranteed himself a first round bye in the playoffs.

- Low score of the week: Chunky Salsa

Robby Anderson

Perezoso Majestuoso (113.58) > Rodgers That (86.12)

If you're looking at that gif thinking "Uh, who is Robby Anderson?" you're not alone. Surprisingly he's a fantasy relevant WR for the NY Jets. And even more surprisingly, he has at least 1 TD every week for the last 5 games (what?), culminating in the 29 point performance he put up for Perezoso this week. He was joined by Lev Bell, Funchess, and the Jags DST in leading Majestuoso to a pretty comfortable victory. Unfortunately for Rodgers that, this also results in her elimination from the playoff hunt. She started the week with a great game from Rudolph, but rare dud games for Ingram and McCoy brought her team back down to a sub 90 score.

Julio Jones

Colton's Team(123.16) > πŸ€¦‍♀️🀦‍♀️🀦‍♀️ (111.58)

268 total yards, 2 TDs, 44 fantasy points. Yeah,  that's why Julio still gets drafted in the first round. Colton's Team got an insane 76 points from his top two players (Julio, Kamara) as he clinched a playoff spot with his 4th straight win. It's another in a string of heartbreaking losses for triple facepalm. Her team put up another solid week with big games from Wentz, Gore, and Walker, but it just wasn't enough as an 8th loss officially eliminates her from playoffs as well.

- Highest Scoring Loser πŸ€¦‍♀️🀦‍♀️🀦‍♀️

Antonio Brown

Zane's Team (139.02) > Travis's Team (63.36)

In this week's other blowout, Antonio Brown and Gronk lead Zane's team to a near 80 point win over Travis. Zane's team also benefitted from what people hope to be Mixon's breakout game after waiting all season for him to finally do something. For Travis, there's good news and bad. The good is that despite this horrible loss, he's the only team in the bottom 4 that still technically has a chance to sneak into the playoffs. Although he would have to outscore πŸ€“πŸ–’πŸˆ by 171 points next week. Easy enough, right?

-High score of the week, Zane's Team

Tom Brady

πŸ€“πŸ–’πŸˆ (82.68) > Look Out Zaner (80.18)

Finally, we get to our only matchup of the week. Look Out Zaner was in the lead all the way up to Monday night when Justin "Best Kicker Ever" Tucker lifted πŸ€“πŸ–’πŸˆ to a narrow win with 2 4th Quarter FGs. This means an almost certain playoff berth for her team, and a disappointing elimination for Look Out Zaner. LOZ got good games from new pickup Sammy Watkins and NE's Defense, but was really let down by Jared Cook and Thomas. πŸ€“πŸ–’πŸˆgot almost nothing from her 3RBs, but good kicking, defense, and Tom🐐 Brady sealed the game for her.

- Lowest Scoring Winner πŸ€“πŸ–’πŸˆ
- Pickup of the Week, Davante Adams, πŸ€“πŸ–’πŸˆ

So that's it. The playoffs are all but set, and the last week really only serves to determine seeding. Next week instead of recaps, I'm going to preview all of our upcoming playoff matchups and make my predictions. Have a good weekend guys!

Kickoff 2019

Football Season is Upon us.. Man, that feels really nice to type. We're just weeks away from finding out Are the browns actually good now? Will the entire Cowboys offense hold out for better contracts? Can Antonio Brown recover from his frostbitten feet (seriously?) Who's going to dominate our draft only to watch their team fall apart in the final weeks of the season? There are two important parts to this post, and both of them require your participation; draft dates and rule changes. If nothing else, please send me your draft dates ASAP Draft Dates In order to avoid drafting players who get injured in the preseason, I've set the earliest date for this poll after Preseason Week 2. Check all the dates you're available, or at least X out the days you definitely can't make it. VOTE HERE Potential Rule Changes Alright, now for the rules. First, I want to note that we don't have to change anything from last year, but I always like ...

Week 13: Playoffs, Survivor Champion

A rare image of that one time the Jags were actually good Playoffs are here! The final week of the regular season included a bit of Chaos as Goofy Gang was able to claw his way into 6th place, while NB Power pushed into a 1st round bye. This next week, there are only 2 matchups because all of our losers bracket teams are on bye, as well as our league leaders. Survivor The winner of our very first survivor challenge has been crowned! Congrats Eagle Powers. The key to this game was consistency, and Eagle Powers has been consistently crushing it ever since this challenge started in week 5. With an average score of 139 and low of 113 during that period, this team has cruised to 4 eliminations (double that of the next best team) on the backs of Gurley, Luck, and Davante Adams, as well as insane waiver pickups in Conner, Chubb and Kerryon. How they're only 7-6 in the actual standings is the greater mystery. Survivor Standings : Eagle Powers: 132 Points this week ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ ...

Commish Commentary Week 9: Close Calls

Sometimes, Fantasy Football is about winning the draft, or getting that breakout player on waivers. Like drafting Hunt in the 7th or getting Wentz for free. Other times, it's about picking the right players to start and which ones to sit. Like when Amari Cooper puts up 40 points on your bench as you lose by 5. Sometimes though, it's just dumb luck. There were two teams this week that were ~1 point away from winning their matchup and moving into playoff position only to lose at the last possible second. 1 dropped pass that gets caught, one field-goal that goes in instead of bouncing off the upright. So close, but not quite close enough. Recaps! Travis Kelce Chunky Salsa (85) > πŸ€“πŸ–’πŸˆ (83.24) In the first of our nail-biters, πŸ€“πŸ–’πŸˆ took a lead Sunday with good games from Ajayi and McCaffrey, only for Chunky Salsa to be saved on Monday night by a Kelce touchdown. Salsa also got a pretty good game out of Tyrod and Hopkins, which helped gloss over an abysmal 8 carr...
