Commish Commentary Week 1: Kickoff

Welp, week 1 is in the books as one of the lowest scoring weeks I've ever seen. Only two teams broke 100 points and many were below 80. If you're freaking out because your team looks awful this morning, try not to sweat it too much, most of these players will bounce back.

A couple of notes from me, and then onto the recaps:
  1. Today is the day to make your player selections on waivers, as they will process tonight. You can still pick up free agents the rest of the week, but now is the time to go after the breakout players from this week that you really want.
  2. Team names! You guys should consider setting them. It's fun.

Matchups:

- Perezoso Majestuoso (105) > Colton's Team (87)
In the highest scoring matchup up the week, Perezoso was able to shake off bad games from Powell and Jimmy Graham with a great first performance from his rookie RB and a huge game from Diggs who I'm sure is just as surprised as we are that Bradford can actually throw the ball. Colton's team was really let down by his highly drafted WRs, but saw good news as Cook turned in a great rookie performance to start the season. Both of these teams look like they're in really good shape going forward.

- Greg's Grand Team(80.64) > zane's Team(70.62)
#1 vs #2. Lev Bell vs. DJ, the matchup we've all been waiting for .... was pretty boring. Bell put up his worst game ever and David Johnson left with a wrist injury that could have him out for weeks. Ultimately Greg got Grand games from Gurley and Golden(tate) to lift him past zane's team this week. With the news that Zeke might not be suspended at all this week though, Zane still has a lot to look forward to. For Greg's team, losing your first round pick is never easy, but the season is far from over. In the end, a lot of teams are going to lose or drop players they thought would be amazing this year.

- Brittany's Team(92.64) > Marie's Team(57.12)
In the first of two mother v child showdowns, Brittany comes out victorious despite only 2 of her players meeting projections. As it turns out, this was 2 more than Marie's team, who had all 9 players forget to show up with week. Late news that Odell would miss the Sunday night game sealed her fate as she had no other players to substitute for him, and she was already trailing Brittany by several points. In the end, Marie's highest scoring player was a 2nd defense left on her bench. Ouch.

- Travis' Team(68.82) > Melissa's team(60.78)
And here we are. Week 1's lowest scoring matchup. The noodle fight in which Travis' team managed to stumble it's way into victory despite getting a combined .9 points from his Kicker, TE, and RB2. Both of these teams, however, were hamstrung from the start with their 1st round picks (Mike Evans, Jay Ajayi) out due to game cancellation. For this reason I would expect them to bounce back next week. But for now, Travis wears the noodle crown.

- Chunky Salsa(117.66) > Barbara's Bold Team(81.54)
You could say I saved the best for last, or that I didn't know how to write this one without bragging too much. In either case, Chunky Salsa got an insane 43 point performance from Hunt on Thursday night that, along with his other RBs, carried him to an easy victory. On the less fun side of things, Chunky Salsa lost his top WR(Allen Robinson) for the season on his first play of the game. Despite really bad games from Barb's two WRs, she still scored enough points to outpace 5 other teams making her the unlucky highest scoring loser of the week. The Ty/McCoy RB combo is definitely going win her some weeks this year.

If you're in the loss column today, remember that it's a long season, and 6 of the 10 of us are going to make playoffs. Head to the waivers, pick up some new players, and get ready for week 2!

Kickoff 2019

Football Season is Upon us.. Man, that feels really nice to type. We're just weeks away from finding out Are the browns actually good now? Will the entire Cowboys offense hold out for better contracts? Can Antonio Brown recover from his frostbitten feet (seriously?) Who's going to dominate our draft only to watch their team fall apart in the final weeks of the season? There are two important parts to this post, and both of them require your participation; draft dates and rule changes. If nothing else, please send me your draft dates ASAP Draft Dates In order to avoid drafting players who get injured in the preseason, I've set the earliest date for this poll after Preseason Week 2. Check all the dates you're available, or at least X out the days you definitely can't make it. VOTE HERE Potential Rule Changes Alright, now for the rules. First, I want to note that we don't have to change anything from last year, but I always like ...

Week 13: Playoffs, Survivor Champion

A rare image of that one time the Jags were actually good Playoffs are here! The final week of the regular season included a bit of Chaos as Goofy Gang was able to claw his way into 6th place, while NB Power pushed into a 1st round bye. This next week, there are only 2 matchups because all of our losers bracket teams are on bye, as well as our league leaders. Survivor The winner of our very first survivor challenge has been crowned! Congrats Eagle Powers. The key to this game was consistency, and Eagle Powers has been consistently crushing it ever since this challenge started in week 5. With an average score of 139 and low of 113 during that period, this team has cruised to 4 eliminations (double that of the next best team) on the backs of Gurley, Luck, and Davante Adams, as well as insane waiver pickups in Conner, Chubb and Kerryon. How they're only 7-6 in the actual standings is the greater mystery. Survivor Standings : Eagle Powers: 132 Points this week ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️ ...

Commish Commentary Week 9: Close Calls

Sometimes, Fantasy Football is about winning the draft, or getting that breakout player on waivers. Like drafting Hunt in the 7th or getting Wentz for free. Other times, it's about picking the right players to start and which ones to sit. Like when Amari Cooper puts up 40 points on your bench as you lose by 5. Sometimes though, it's just dumb luck. There were two teams this week that were ~1 point away from winning their matchup and moving into playoff position only to lose at the last possible second. 1 dropped pass that gets caught, one field-goal that goes in instead of bouncing off the upright. So close, but not quite close enough. Recaps! Travis Kelce Chunky Salsa (85) > 🤓🖒🏈 (83.24) In the first of our nail-biters, 🤓🖒🏈 took a lead Sunday with good games from Ajayi and McCaffrey, only for Chunky Salsa to be saved on Monday night by a Kelce touchdown. Salsa also got a pretty good game out of Tyrod and Hopkins, which helped gloss over an abysmal 8 carr...
